Universiti Malaya's Faculty of Science handbook for the 2025/2026 session prints the university grading scheme as A+ and A at 4.00, A- at 3.70, B+ at 3.30, B at 3.00, B- at 2.70, C+ at 2.30, C at 2.00, then C- 1.70, D+ 1.30, D 1.00, and F 0.00. The number that surprises people coming from UKM or UiTM is 3.70. An A- is not 3.67 here. Three credits of A- are 11.10 grade points, not 11.01.
A short semester makes the difference obvious. One 3-credit A- and one 3-credit B: 11.10 plus 9.00 is 20.10, divided by 6 is 3.3500. On a 3.67 scale that same A- would have produced 11.01 and a GPA of 3.3350. Scholarship forms that ask for two decimal places would show 3.35 or 3.34. Using the wrong university's point is a larger error than rounding.
The handbook describes C+ and C as Pass, and C- through F as Fail. Fail still has a point, and that point stays in the CGPA until the faculty removes the attempt. C- is 1.70, not a blank. A 2-credit C- contributes 3.40 to the numerator and 2 to the denominator. People who delete fail grades before a repeat is approved are calculating a private average, not the portal's average.
Marks in the handbook run from 90.00 for A+ down to 0.00–34.99 for F. You do not need the mark if you already have the letter. If you only have a mark, read the band in the table and then confirm it, because a faculty can still be operating a reviewed scheme. This page follows the 2025/2026 Science handbook bands for display and uses the grade point for the maths.
Previous CGPA at UM is a credit-weighted average of earlier semesters, sometimes after a grade replacement you can see on the unofficial transcript. Copy the CGPA and the cumulative credits from that transcript into the previous-study fields. Do not average the last three semester GPAs and call it cumulative. A 12-credit semester and a 20-credit semester are not equal votes.
Other UM faculties teach the same university points in their own handbooks; if your faculty page disagrees with the Science handbook, believe your faculty and tell us by the contact page on the hub. The verify line is off for these points because the handbook states them, and it is still your job to match the letter on your slip.
Credit hours on the form are whole numbers. A 3-credit course is 3, even if the contact hours on the timetable look longer. Do not type the mark. Typing 85 because the paper scored 85 will be read as 85 credit hours and will wreck the average. The letter is the input, and the handbook's point is the multiplier. After a semester, put the portal's cumulative CGPA and the cumulative credits into the previous-study fields and add only the new courses. Re-typing every old course is how a dropped elective sneaks back in.

The shared formula does not change with the logo on the transcript. Multiply each grade point by the credit hours, add those products, and divide by the credit hours. What changes is the point you are allowed to multiply. If your letter is not in the table, do not borrow one from another university. Use the main CGPA calculator to switch scales, or the SPM page if you are still counting school grades.
