Some application forms say "CGPA out of 4.0" and stop there. They do not say whether A- is 3.67, 3.70, or 3.75. This generic scale is the common plus/minus table: A 4.00, A- 3.67, B+ 3.33, B 3.00, B- 2.67, C+ 2.33, C 2.00, C- 1.67, D+ 1.33, D 1.00, F 0.00. It is not an official table from any of the universities on this site. Verify with your faculty, or with the office that wrote the form, before you submit the number as theirs.
The worked example is the one used to test this project. Mathematics, an A, 3 credits, contributes 12. Chemistry, a B, 3 credits, contributes 9. English, a C, 2 credits, contributes 4. The semester is 25 grade points and 8 credits. GPA is 3.1250. If those 8 credits sit on top of a previous CGPA of 3.50 from 60 credits, the old points are 210. The new total is 235 over 68 credits, CGPA 3.4559. Two decimal places would print 3.46. Whether the form wants 3.4559, 3.46, or 3.45 is a question for the form, and this page shows the unrounded division so you can see the choice.
Use a named university page instead whenever you know the institution. UM's A- is 3.70 and B+ is 3.30. UPM's A- is 3.75 and B+ is 3.50. Monash does not use these letters. Taylor's degree scale is close to this one but its marginal-fail grades go through 1.67, 1.33, and 1.00, and its ADP scale is different again. UiTM, UTM, USM, and UKM are in the same family as this generic table, with extra letters such as E, D-, or A+ that this dropdown does not contain. A generic A will not store a UiTM A+ as a separate letter, though both are 4.00.
The form is still only a weighted average. It does not know which courses your faculty excludes, which repeats replace the original, or which pass/fail modules have credits that do not enter the CGPA. A precise-looking 3.4559 from the wrong set of courses is a wrong 3.4559. Match the rows to the transcript first.
If the form asks for SPM results rather than a university CGPA, this scale is the wrong tool. SPM grades from A+ to G are counted on the SPM page, and that aggregate is a worksheet, not a 4.0 GPA. Converting an SPM A+ into 4.00 and averaging it with a degree CGPA mixes two certificates.
When a scholarship officer says "just use 4.0", ask which letters exist. If they cannot say, send the transcript and this generic figure marked as generic. The banner on the result is there so a screenshot does not travel without that context.
Verify with your faculty. Verify with your faculty. Use this only when an institution asks for a 4.0 and does not publish its own points. UM, UPM, and Monash do not use this table.

The shared formula does not change with the logo on the transcript. Multiply each grade point by the credit hours, add those products, and divide by the credit hours. What changes is the point you are allowed to multiply. If your letter is not in the table, do not borrow one from another university. Use the main CGPA calculator to switch scales, or the SPM page if you are still counting school grades.
